Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Report to the head of Brand Marketing and Communications and be responsible for managing and executing on an integrated and proactive marketing and communications technology strategy to support William Blair’s businesses globally.
  • This person will be our marketing technology thought leader and integrator working to develop best-in-class technology solutions.
  • Proficient with CRM, content management and marketing automation as well as social media management.
  • Must be proficient with Salesforce and marketing integration tools like Marketo and Informatica
  • Experience with website development.
  • Partner with software vendors, implementation partners and integrators for the end-to-end deliver and execution of Marketing IT solutions.
  • Audit and recommend best practices for marketing tools, oversee integration upgrades, troubleshoot issues and identify new technology enhancements to incorporate into the department.
  • Work closely with IT and marketing colleagues to develop solutions for better servicing our clients, tracking metrics and developing analytics.
  • Identify competitive solutions while keeping us up to date on the latest technology evolutions.
  • Enable tools, platforms, solutions and processes that support digital analytics & personalization.
  • Responsible for other technology needs and systems to support Marketing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple programs/projects, as well as manage/direct internal support areas and external vendors.
  • Effective interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain strong partnerships and work amongst a variety of constituencies with strong opinions. 
  • Ability to think strategically while also able to “roll up your sleeves” and do the hands-on work necessary to meet deadlines. 
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships throughout the firm and work cooperatively with others to accomplish objectives; understand corporate culture to respond to technology needs.


  • Minimum 5 years experience managing and implementing Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in technology, preferably digital/marketing capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing, the modern digital capabilities / technology stack, campaign management and agile development.
  • Strong vendor management skills; including budget management, supplier reviews, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience working with:
    • Salesforce Admin/Architect/Project Manager
    • Middleware/Connector experience (Informatica/MuleSoft/Jitterbit)
    • Marketing Automation (ExactTarget/Marketo/Pardot/Eloqua)
    • Analytics (Tableau/PowerBI/Wave)
  • Highly organized, positive attitude self-starter who is a strong team player.
  • Strong knowledge/experience of the evolving marketing technology landscape, as well as best practices within the industry.
  • Experience with Salesforce and appropriate accreditations preferred.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team. 
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management and business stakeholders.
  • Master’s degree in Business or equivalent certification with Salesforce and marketing automation tools.
