Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • This new role will partner with the head of events to ensure all our events and related activities are supporting both the firm goals and the strategic objectives of our internal stakeholders.
  • Primary responsibility is to manage and execute the strategy for our key events while keeping a clear focus on metrics, KPI’s, identifying revenue opportunities and ultimately viewed as a partner by the business.
  • This person will need to be a self-starter, highly organized, partners well with colleagues across the organization and can develop plans to scale events execution.
  • He or she will collaborate with various departments across William Blair including: Hospitality. IT, A/V, and BMC colleagues working on events to identify ways to streamline activities, create templates, develop consistent messaging/branding, and share best practices across events to promote scalability and consistency.
  • Use strategic insight to deliver a memorable client journey from start to finish.
  • Identify metrics and engage in a feedback loop with internal stakeholders and clients for continuous improvement, coordinate and lead debrief meetings. 
  • Leverage Salesforce and other tools to track metrics, identify client opportunities and develop reporting
  • Develop relevant collateral, marketing material and clear messaging. 
  • Leverage technology to promote events and create a positive user experience pre-, during, and post-event (including Cvent, conference app, on-site polling, social media, et al.)
  • Leverage project management tool (currently WRIKE) to plan and execute events, leading the execution teams of key conferences.
  • Assist in annual budgeting process and track expenses to adhere to budget plan.
  • Assist in launching new events to drive revenue and position William Blair in marketplace.
  • Participate in other projects at request of management.


  • Able to partner across the organization and navigate a matrix environment.
  • Must have strong project management skills and be very organized.
  • A confident self-starter who is able to “connect the dots.”
  • Must work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in events strategy; financial services experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, managing lists and campaigns.
  • Excellent written, graphic, and verbal communications skills in multiple media. The ability to communicate clear, effective messages that guide objectives and execution of events.
  • Ability to build relationships throughout the firm and to work cooperatively with others to accomplish objectives; understand corporate culture to respond to communication needs.
  • Events travel as needed.
