Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Lead the Financial Institutions sales team.  Create strategic sales plans, policies and procedures to promote the sale of William Blair investment services.  Promote new business development, expansion of product offerings and cross-selling of William Blair services with large sophisticated financial institutions. Build strategic alliances and senior management relationships with key client executives to showcase William Blair’s capabilities.  Maintain a comprehensive understanding of client needs to ensure client satisfaction and maximize asset retention.  Create development and mentoring opportunities for Financial Institutions staff.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Manage all Financial Institutions sales staff, with overall responsibility for the Financial Institutions team.  Ensure staff continually identifies and capitalizes on sales opportunities, focusing on new business development, cross-selling of other William Blair products/services, current client retention, and the expansion of product offerings.  
  • Develop strategic sales plans and objectives and monitor individual’s performance against established performance measures.
  • Work in concert with Portfolio Managers, Marketing/Sales and Marketing Support staff to develop and implement policies and procedures for serving clients.
  • Demonstrate relationship management leadership with key executives in Tier 1 relationships by building, maintaining and expanding strategic alliances with key client executives to showcase William Blair’s investment capabilities.  
  • Maintain a proactive dialogue with clients to develop a comprehensive understanding of needs and desires to ensure client satisfaction.  
  • Build and develop staff by ensuring training and development opportunities are in place and utilized and mentoring opportunities are recognized.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • MBA and CFA preferred.
  • 10+ years of investment product sales experience in sub-advisory, OCIO or platforms.
  • Sales management experience. 
  • Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) licenses required.
  • Extensive experience in managing complex investment expectations.
  • Broad knowledge of capital markets and economics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment strategies and advisory skills for TAA.
  • Ability to deliver clear, effective communication and take responsibility for understanding others.
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with others to achieve objectives.
  • Dedication to detail and follow-up.
