Company Description:

William Blair is a global investment banking and asset management firm. We are committed to building enduring relationships with our clients and providing expertise and solutions to meet their evolving needs. An independent and employee-owned firm, William Blair is based in Chicago and, together with its strategic partners, operates worldwide.

About the Team:

Investment banking’s global footprint provides opportunities to deliver highly strategic advice to market-leading companies around the world. Guided by our unwavering commitment to our clients’ success and motivated by our vision to build the premier global boutique investment bank, we provide the industry’s brightest minds with the opportunity to thrive in an energetic, entrepreneurial environment and team-oriented culture. Our mission is to provide bold, creative advice to clients and leadership in our markets and our communities.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

As a summer associate at William Blair, you will have extensive opportunities to work with current analysts, associates, and senior bankers over the course of the 10-week program. Summer associates have the opportunity to join deal teams across industries and work on a combination of live transactions and pitches. In a short period of time, summer associates gain a high level of experience and exposure within the firm and are able to play an integral role in various types of deals. Because transactions are rarely staffed with more than five professionals, our summer associates have a great opportunity to take on substantial responsibility and make a meaningful contribution to a transaction’s ultimate success.

Summer associates take on all functions of a full-time associate, including extensive deal execution (mergers and acquisitions, public equity offerings, and private equity placements), with increasing accountability for transaction oversight, client relationship management, and new business development. The summer program also includes internal training, community service, and social events. After completion of the program, we hope to have all of our summer associates join us as full-time associates upon graduation.

William Blair & Company's environment is unique in the investment banking profession. While the work is rigorous and demands a high level of commitment, the firm maintains an open, cooperative and collegial atmosphere. Most Associates at William Blair & Company have MBA degrees and can demonstrate strong evidence of academic and professional achievement in previous endeavors. We look for candidates who are effective at working in a team environment, and who are interested in a long-term career with William Blair & Company.
