About the Team:

The Middle Office Employee Service Desk works as tactical unit that offers the highest level of service & knowledge across all operational functions to William Blair employees who are self-directing their investment accounts.  The service desk assists with account opening, cashiering requests, reporting needs & operational & risk management assistance.  

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Oversee the execution of Middle Office operations in the following areas: client reporting, the client portal, the employee service desk, trade support and Middle Office integrated solutions.  Ensure that process activities are completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.  Serve as a Middle Office subject matter expert and a primary resource for analyzing, handling and reporting on varied, complex issues.  Train team members and employees on Middle Office systems and processes, and review work activities to ensure alignment with risk controls and regulatory requirements.  Resolve escalated issues and ensure client satisfaction.  Lead and execute projects and initiatives to identify and implement operational best practices, system enhancements, and policy changes.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Middle Office operations in the following areas: client reporting, the client portal, the employee service desk, trade support and Middle Office integrated solutions.
  • Perform complex analyses and reporting of Middle Office operational data and issues.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Front Office staff and infrastructure support staff.
  • Oversee the execution of Middle Office operations within areas of specialty.  Ensure that process activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.  Provide approvals and authorizations for the completion of work activities and issue resolution.
  • Train team members and employees on Middle Office systems and processes and review work activities to ensure alignment with risk controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve escalated issues and ensure client satisfaction.  Recommend process changes to minimize recurrence of common issues.
  • Lead and execute projects and initiatives to identify and implement operational best practices, system enhancements, and policy changes.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to define technology requirements for system enhancements.
  • Oversee the implementation of new procedures and system changes to enhance internal quality assurance and the risk control framework.
  • Ensure Middle Office workflow activities follow established risk controls and are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related subject matter required; MBA preferred
  • Series 7 and 66 preferred
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in financial services operations required
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple functions
