Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and interpret macroeconomic data with an investment management and geo-political lens.
  • Write SQL, Matlab, and R scripts to collect and organize data, perform factor-based analyses of stocks, portfolios, and universes, and test new investment and risk ideas at the direction of the quantitative analyst responsible for risk; review sell-side and academic research.
  • Provide support to the Economist and global research team, including: generating, organizing, and distributing reports regularly and monitoring the output.
  • Participate in overall data management activities.  Develop and perform checks to ensure integrity of the data being used by the models.  Work with other groups within the department to ensure consistency in data usage.
  • Prepare internal written reports, notes, presentations and other documents to communicate investment ideas, research, news events and opinions regarding sector, industry and country analyses.
  • Interact with portfolio managers, analysts, sell-side brokers and third-party research providers. 
  • Prepare records and files to develop and maintain sources of information to assist in analysis activities.
  • Participate in other projects as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Concentration in Computer Science preferred or prior programming experience. 
  • Interest in and familiarity with asset management and economics.
  • Successful completion of CFA Level I exam or other demonstrated knowledge of financial accounting, investment statistics, and equity markets.
  • Experience using statistical software required; R is preferable, Python or Matlab are substitutable.
  • Experience with some form of data visualization, ideally in R or Tableau (not Excel).
  • FactSet experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL scripting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of creatively simplifying and summarizing complex information. 
  • Comfortable working within tight deadlines or time constraints.
  • Adaptability to a constantly changing environment and ability to manage through change with a high degree of emotional maturity.
