Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth research and/or analytics to support analysis, design and administration of employee benefit programs, including utilization, trends and opportunities for benefit system or program improvement.
  • Leverage internal and external resources to provide reporting and benchmark data to identify benefit trends and develop executive updates. 
  • Assist in development and coordination of William Blair sponsored Life and Well-Being events.
  • Assist Benefits Manager in marketing of benefit plans, service providers and programs, including facilitation of requests for proposals, vendor evaluation and selection.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for benefit data and plan designs; assisting in responding to complex customer questions – triage less complex questions to Compass.
  • Ensure accuracy of employee and benefit database via audits and system correction; lead reconciliation of benefit vendor data files and/or invoices. 
  • Engage in analysis, evaluation, design, development and implementation of health and welfare benefit plan modifications and enhancements. Proactive in identifying and evaluating new programs as well as develops recommendations for leadership.
  • Works closely with Benefits and communications team to develop effective participant education and communications.


  • Minimum 3 years of employee health and welfare benefit plan design and benefit administration experience
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Technical expertise in designing, developing, and implementing benefit programs
  • Effectively monitors regulatory updates and requirements, drives necessary program changes to ensure compliance
  • Researches benefit program matters, organizes findings and proposes solutions
  • Ability to lead the design, planning and implementation of complex projects 
  • Requires working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to the ADA, FMLA, and other state and local leave laws
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, sound reasoning and judgment as well as a focused attention to detail
  • Works effectively and efficiently toward goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and changing demands
  • Requires excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels
  • Effective client servicing skills; ability to effectively work with HR clients, other HR functions and management as well as build strong relationships 
  • Proficient in use of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
