About the Team:

The William Blair trade settlement team facilitates the settlement of trades across domestic and international equities, derivatives, and fixed income, ensuring that trades are properly communicated and matched with brokers and custodians. The team’s in-house systems support function launches new systems, ensures timely upgrades, documents processes, and trains staff on use. Team members who work in these high-risk roles must be detail-oriented and comfortable working in an open trading-desk environment.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the trade settlement function: including: managing policies and procedures; ensuring that all trade settlement operations and administrative activities are performed to established standards on a daily and longer term basis.  Serving as a player/coach to the trade settlements team and carrying out the oversight of the team work product.
  • Improve workflows, makes recommendations and processes re-engineering projects.
  • Advise on complex settlement issues and review less complex issues from both internal and external parties.  
  • Provide back-up support to trade settlements area as needed.
  • Participate in other projects as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with concentration in finance or accounting preferred
  • Two years’ experience as a team lead preferred.
  • Five years’ or more of asset management operations experience, with a strong preference of knowledge of both international and domestic equities.  
  • Background in fixed income and derivatives a plus.
  • Ability to develop staff, motivates others, and builds teamwork.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented to ensure that standards are met.
  • Delivers clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others.
  • Concern for quality.
  • Results oriented.
