Job Summary & Responsibilities:

The Treasury Lead will serve as an Accounting & Finance Treasury expert.  They will monitor and oversee liquidity management for William Blair to ensure optimal levels, contribute to the development of Treasury strategies and policies, and cultivate external relationships with industry and regulatory agencies to deepen expertise.  As a senior member of the team they will need to serve as an external thought leader and help identify industry and regulatory trends and changes which could impact William Blair and bring to the attention of leadership.  

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as an Accounting & Finance Treasury expert.  Provide expertise in liquidity management, as well as any associated regulatory requirements.  Monitor and oversee the liquidity management for William Blair to ensure optimal levels.  
  • Contribute to the development of Treasury strategies and policies, including the creation of a foreign exchange risk policy.  Review Investment policy with senior management on a quarterly basis.  Leverage expertise and knowledge of regulatory and industry changes and trends to recommend updates to the policy when appropriate. 
  • Review investment options and make recommendations that maximize potential return, minimize risk and adhere to policy.  
  • Cultivate external relationships with industry and regulatory agencies to deepen own expertise related to regulatory and business conditions.  Share personal theories and serve as an external thought leader.
  • Proactively identify industry and regulatory trends and changes which could impact William Blair’s strategies, processes and financial performance.  Bring to the attention of firm leadership.
  • Purchase and redeem cash into the various money market funds.  Monitor balances in various bank accounts to ensure compliance with the firm’s investment policy.  
  • Review investment options.  Leverage expertise to make recommendations that maximize potential return, minimize risk and adhere to investment policy.
  • Provide expertise on any issues or discrepancies pertaining to the reconciliation and/or maintenance of bank accounts and balance, bank/treasury systems   Serve as an escalation point for treasury transaction processing issues.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to less experienced staff.  Serve as a resource for complex Treasury questions and issues.
  • Provide excellent client service to Partners for Partner account related questions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5-7 years financial services experience required
  • Series 7 or 99 required; must be obtained within first 90 days of hire  
  • Expert knowledge of securities business functions applicable to the group
  • Expert knowledge of regulatory rules and regulations applicable to treasury operations
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated with the ability to energize others
  • Ability to establish priorities and work within deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office computer software
