Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Provide Middle Office operations and systems knowledge to ensure the successful execution of daily workflows on the client accounts team and eventually cross train to provide backup support for other functions such as new performance reporting, trade support, cashiering, client accounting, and billing.  The Specialist will collaborate closely with Front Office staff to resolve complex requests and inquiries and ensure client satisfaction and monitor the automated reporting process.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of Middle Office processes and systems, as well as William Blair products and services.  Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Front Office staff.
  • Utilize in-depth accounting knowledge to develop and maintain accurate and timely client reports that respond to the needs of various client service personnel and management
  • Ensure accuracy of data presented in client reports.  Resolve data integrity issues by alerting data element owners and ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Handle complex inquiries from Front Office staff and ensure maximum client satisfaction.  Resolve issues escalated by Middle Office Associates.
  • Monitor the automated reporting process according to established deadlines.
  • Prepare and analyze ongoing metrics and dashboards to support business decisions.
  • Execute projects and initiatives to identify and implement operational best practices, system enhancements, and policy changes.  Participate in identifying systems requirements and systems testing.
  • Train team members on policy changes and system enhancements.
  • Enhance internal quality assurance and the risk control framework by implementing and monitoring adherence to new procedures.
  • Ensure Middle Office workflow activities follow established risk controls and are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or equivalent experience required
  • Series 7 and 66 preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in financial services operations required
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Knowledge of portfolio accounting systems and tools

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
