About the Team:

William Blair’s advisor solutions group is responsible for all of the sales-and-marketing functions related to the distribution of William Blair’s investment products to advisors and third-party platforms in the intermediary channel.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Lead sales initiative of William Blair’s Advisory Solutions products, including Separately Managed Accounts (SMA’s), Collective Investment Trusts (CIT’s), mutual funds.  Apply broad product knowledge and negotiation skills to close deals.  Serve as a seasoned resource in investment.  Mentor internal staff in the development of key relationships with qualified advisors and financial intermediaries to surface leads and identify prospects.  

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Generate sales through the direct calling program, utilizing strong networking and negotiation skills to close the sale of investment. 
  • Maintain contacts outside of William Blair, including qualified advisors and key financial intermediaries to convey accurate, up-to-date knowledge of William Blair Advisory Solutions products.
  • Cultivate and leverage relationships within William Blair that can help surface leads or provide endorsements with target clients.  
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key existing clients by executing proactive, ongoing interactions to foster account retention.
  • Guide and mentor Regional Associates on identifying prospects and developing relationships with qualified advisors and financial intermediaries through proactive e-wholesaling efforts that include phone, e-mail and other forms of electronic contact.
  • Create, maintain and deliver client presentations which highlight Advisory Solutions’ investment and the advantages of William Blair.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise of all investment and serve as a technical resource to others. 
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of client meetings and calling activity to ensure appropriate level of contact and follow-up.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of investment product sales required.
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses required.
  • CFA, CIMA, CFP, CAIA preferred. 
  • Strong sales and presentation skills.
  • Deep understanding of investment products and how to position them for maximum effectiveness with different audiences.
  • High degree of energy, motivation and ability to set own priorities.
  • Sustained superior sales production record.
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with others to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to provide coaching and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
